AOL Mail IMAP and SMTP settings

The servers, ports and password you need to add AOL Mail to any mail app, checked against AOL's own help pages.

Updated October 18, 2026

AOL Mail works in other mail apps with these servers. With 2-step verification on, or in apps that don't use AOL's own sign-in, you need an app password.

Make an AOL app password

  1. Open Account Security. Sign in at login.aol.com/account/security.
  2. Generate an app password. Choose Generate and manage app passwords and name it after your mail app.
  3. Copy it. Paste it into your mail app as the password.

Use AOL in GotEmail

You don't have to type any of this. In GotEmail, choose Add Account and pick AOL: the servers, ports and encryption above are filled in for you. You paste the password, and your mail starts loading.

Good to know

  • AOL's help pages list SSL and authentication as required for the SMTP server.
  • An app password works only for the app it was made for, until you remove it.

Checked against AOL's own help pages: Use POP or IMAP to sync AOL Mail, Netscape mail settings (same servers).
