iCloud Mail, together with everything else.

Your @icloud.com, @me.com or custom-domain address in one fast Mac app with all your other email, signed in with an app-specific password.

Updated October 18, 2026

If you have an iCloud address, you probably also have a Gmail, a work account or two. Apple Mail can hold them all, but if you want sign-in codes in one click, AI summaries, Send Later and Snooze, GotEmail gives your iCloud Mail a home next to every other address, in a native Mac app.

What you get with iCloud Mail in GotEmail

  • One list for every account. iCloud, Gmail, Outlook and any IMAP account together in All Inboxes.
  • Sign-in codes, one click away. Codes and magic links show beside the subject and in a banner over any app.
  • AI drafts and summaries, built in, with nothing to set up.
  • Send Later and Snooze. Schedule a message, or put a thread away until it matters.
  • Labels that travel. On iCloud, labels you add in GotEmail are carried with the mail through Apple's servers.

Set up iCloud Mail in GotEmail

Apple asks mail apps to sign in with an app-specific password, not your Apple Account password. You make one once:

  1. Open Apple Account. Sign in at account.apple.com and open Sign-In and Security → App-Specific Passwords.
  2. Make a password. Name it GotEmail and copy the password Apple shows.
  3. Add the account. In GotEmail choose Add Account, pick iCloud, type your address and paste the password. iCloud's servers are filled in for you.
Using a custom domain with iCloud? Add it as iCloud with your custom address, then under Server settings make the username your @icloud.com address. Apple's servers sign you in with that one.

iCloud's settings, if you need them

GotEmail fills these in when you choose iCloud. They're here if you ever check by hand:

ServerPort and security
Incoming (IMAP)imap.mail.me.com993, TLS
Outgoing (SMTP)smtp.mail.me.com587, STARTTLS

If iCloud says the password is wrong

Almost always, it's the Apple Account password typed where the app-specific one belongs. GotEmail says so in plain words and opens Apple's page where you make the right one. Make a new app-specific password, paste it, and you're in.

Questions

Why does iCloud need an app-specific password?

Apple doesn't let mail apps other than its own sign in with your Apple Account password. An app-specific password is a separate password just for GotEmail; you can revoke it at account.apple.com at any time.

Do @me.com and @mac.com addresses work?

Yes. Older @me.com and @mac.com addresses are iCloud Mail and sign in the same way.

Does iCloud Mail with a custom domain work?

Yes. Add the account as iCloud with your custom address, and under Server settings make the username your @icloud.com address, which is what Apple's servers expect.

Does GotEmail store my iCloud mail anywhere?

No. GotEmail talks to iCloud's servers directly from your Mac. There is no GotEmail server in between, and your password stays in your Mac's Keychain.

Do labels I add in GotEmail show up elsewhere?

Yes. On iCloud, labels travel with the mail through Apple's servers, invisible in other mail apps.

Every address. One inbox.

GotEmail brings all your email accounts into one fast, private Mac app.
