To use iCloud Mail in a mail app other than Apple's, you need these servers and an app-specific password from your Apple Account. iCloud Mail doesn't offer POP.
iCloud Mail IMAP and SMTP settings
| Setting | iCloud Mail |
|---|---|
| IMAP (incoming) server | imap.mail.me.com |
| IMAP (incoming) port | 993 |
| IMAP (incoming) encryption | SSL/TLS |
| SMTP (outgoing) server | smtp.mail.me.com |
| SMTP (outgoing) port | 587 |
| SMTP (outgoing) encryption | STARTTLS |
| Username | Your full @icloud.com address (for IMAP, the part before the @ also works) |
| Password | An app-specific password, not your Apple Account password |
| Authentication | Normal password |
Make an app-specific password
- Sign in to your Apple Account. Go to account.apple.com.
- Open App-Specific Passwords. Under Sign-In and Security, choose App-Specific Passwords.
- Make one and copy it. Name it after your mail app and copy the password.
Use iCloud in GotEmail
You don't have to type any of this. In GotEmail, choose Add Account and pick iCloud: the servers, ports and encryption above are filled in for you. You paste the password, and your mail starts loading.
Good to know
- Using iCloud Mail with a custom domain? Sign in with your @icloud.com address as the username.
- Apple's SMTP server requires authentication with the same app-specific password.
