How each app is paid for

Edison Mail's site says plainly that its research business keeps the app free and that you choose what you share, with privacy choices in its settings and policy. That model lets millions of people use it at no cost.

GotEmail is paid for by the people who use it, and that's all. There's no GotEmail server, no account with us and no tracking in the app. Mail goes between your Mac and your provider, passwords stay in the macOS Keychain, and every network request the app makes is listed in our privacy policy.
